PT Penetration Trends

The PT Penetration Trends dashboard shows Personal Training participation as a percentage of active membership and how recurring, paid-in-full, and new-member PT adoption changes over time.

Use this dashboard to:

  • Monitor overall PT participation as a percentage of active membership.
  • Compare recurring and paid-in-full PT participation.
  • Measure how many new members purchase PT during their first 30 days.
  • Compare monthly trends across clubs and member segments.
  • Review the active PT members and packages supporting the results.

Personal Training member reporting depends on PT recurring service items being maintained correctly in Easalytics’ Service Item Grouping admin, and PT paid-in-full items being in a profit center with a Profit Center Group type of "PT".

How PT participation is counted:

  • Metrics count distinct members, not packages.
  • A member who qualifies through both recurring and PIF PT is counted once in Total Active PT Members.
  • Recurring members qualify in each month during which their recurring package was active. Frozen recurring members are included.
  • PIF members qualify when a paid purchase’s 60-day qualification window overlaps the month. This calculation is based on purchases, not sessions remaining.
  • Recurring PT enrollment uses adjusted logic that excludes packages purchased and cancelled within 30 days and prevents package rewrites from creating additional enrollments.

PT Members

Provides a historical, member-level snapshot of the members included in the active PT population for a selected month.

Unlike the current active-member view in the Personal Training Sales Revenue and Enrollment dashboard, this tab is based on the selected historical month rather than only the member’s current package status.

Each member is classified as:

  • Recurring: The member qualified through an active recurring PT package.
  • PIF: The member qualified through a paid PT PIF purchase.
  • Both: The member qualified through recurring and PIF PT during the selected month.

A member classified as Both remains one distinct member in Total Active PT Members, while both qualification types are retained in the detail.

The table includes club and member information, PT Qualification, and the recurring and PIF dates that caused the member to qualify for the selected month.

Sorting
The PT Members table can be sorted by fields including member, agreement number, service item, package type, package frequency, dates, draft amount, PIF amount, or session counts.

Key Fields

PIF or Recurring: Classifies the PT package as either:

  • Recurring: A PT service that continues billing on a defined frequency.
  • PIF: A PT package purchased without an ongoing recurring billing schedule; PIF = paid-in-full.

Package Frequency: The billing frequency associated with a recurring PT package.

Sale Date: The date the PT package or recurring service was sold or began.

Next Bill Date: The next scheduled billing date for a recurring PT package.

Freeze Start and End Dates: The dates on which a recurring package entered or is scheduled to enter and leave freeze.

Deactivation Date and Reason: The package cancellation or deactivation date and the source-system reason associated with the deactivation.

PT EFT Draft Amount: The monthly-equivalent draft amount associated with a recurring PT package.

PT PIF Amount: The paid-in-full amount associated with the PT package.

PIF Sessions Purchased: The number of sessions originally included in the PIF package.

Remaining Sessions: The number of unused sessions remaining on the package. Remaining sessions are included as package detail but are not used to determine the monthly Active PT PIF Members trend.

Common Dashboard Use Cases

  • Determine whether PT participation is growing at the same rate as active membership.
  • Identify clubs with improving or declining PT penetration.
  • Compare the recurring and PIF composition of the PT member population.
  • Measure how effectively new members are introduced and converted to PT.
  • Compare PT participation across membership and demographic groups.
  • Review the active members and packages supporting PT results.

Metric Definitions

  • Total Active Members: The active membership population used as the denominator for the month. It is calculated as of the end of the month, or the most recent available day for the current month. This supporting metric is displayed in the Trends Data Table.
  • Total Active PT Members: The distinct number of active members who qualify through recurring PT, a paid PIF purchase, or both. A member with multiple packages or both qualification types is counted once.
  • PT Member Penetration %: Total Active PT Members divided by Total Active Members.
  • Active Recurring PT Members: The distinct number of active members with a qualifying recurring PT package that overlaps the month. For example, a package beginning in December and ending during January qualifies the member in both December and January. Frozen recurring packages are included. Adjusted PT enrollment logic excludes recurring packages purchased and cancelled within 30 days. Package upgrades, downgrades, and rewrites do not create additional enrollments.
  • Recurring PT Member Penetration %: Active Recurring PT Members divided by Total Active Members.
  • Active PT PIF Members: The distinct number of active members whose qualifying paid-in-full PT purchase window overlaps the month. A member enters the PIF population on the qualifying purchase date and remains qualified for up to 60 days. A later qualifying purchase begins a new qualification period. When a package expiration occurs sooner, the expiration date ends qualification. Zero-dollar purchases and fully refunded purchases are excluded. The metric is based on qualifying purchases and does not use sessions remaining.
  • PT PIF Member Penetration %: Active PT PIF Members divided by Total Active Members.
  • NMUs with PT Purchase in First Month: The distinct number of New Member Units who purchased qualifying recurring or PIF PT during their first 30 days of membership.
  • NMU PT Penetration %: NMUs with PT Purchase in First Month divided by Total NMUs for the month.
